After Every Rainfall Must Come a
Rainbow
They looked at each other and smiled. I wondered what were they chatting about. They were my friends when I was studying at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jordan. We were on an aeroplane which was flying to Malaysia – my beloved country. I was returning to my homeland, Malaysia after four years studying in dentistry course in Jordan. After several hours, the aeroplane landed on the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). My family had been waiting for me patiently at the arrival hall. I hugged my parents, I missed them so much.
After several months, I got a job as a dentist in Hospital Pulau Pinang. I was very grateful because my ambition to be a dentist become true. Every weekend, I returned to my hometown to visit my parents. I enjoy my weekly routine. One day, when I returned to my hometown I could see my parents’ were very radiant to receive my visit. What a surprise, they asked me to get marry quickly because they wanted to have grandchildren. They said that they could find someone to be my wife if I did not have anybody yet. I told them that I had a feeling for someone but I never told her about my feeling. They asked me to propose to the girl as soon as possible.
Her name is Ainun, she graduated from the University of Yarmouk, Jordan as Bachelor in Arabic Language. She has sparkling eyes and oval-shaped face. She is good-looking girl and petite but those are not the reasons of why I attracted to her. The thing that attracted me so much about her is her piety. I phoned my good friend, Isam who graduated from the same university as Bachelor in Usuluddin and asked him to represent me to propose to her. It was not polite to propose to her directly. After two days, Isam phoned me and told me that Ainun need some time to make a decision.
As I patiently waited for her decision, I prayed to Allah to give me the best. After three weeks Isam phoned me and he said that Ainun had made the decision and she wanted to see me. I was very nervous. We met at a restaurant. I was accompanied by my parents while Ainun was accompanied by her parents. Isam also came to be the middle person. My heart shattered into tiny pieces when I heard that she refused my proposal. I felt like there was no more light in my life. I was frustrated but I must respect her decision. I knew she must had her own reason why she refused me. I returned home with a broken heart, my mother gave me comfort. I could not sleep that night. For the whole night I had been asking myself what was my fault. For a week, I just thinking of her. I could not sleep well and lost an appetite.
Later Isam visited me. He tried to give support because he heard I was very down. He is a friend indeed. He reminded me verses from Holy Koran :
“so, Verily, with every difficulty, there is relief, Verily, with every difficulty there is relief”
(An-Nashrah: 5-6)
I felt calm when heard that. Yes, that is the promise from Him. I must be strong and patient to get through this. This was a test from Him and I must take it to strive. I realized if Ainun was not for me, it means that there would be someone else whom is more suitable with me.
Three months later, suddenly my mother phoned me. She asked me to return to my hometown because she had an important thing to discuss. I wondered what it was. I returned to my hometown on the weekend. My parent told me that they had chosen a girl to be my wife and they asked me whether I agree or not. I told them that I just go with their choice. The next week, I was brought to see my future wife. I was very shocked, I knew the girl. She was the girl whom I had admired during my study at secondary school. Her name is Juwairiyah, she graduated as Bachelor in Islamic Law from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She is a quiet girl and is good-looking too. The most important is her piety.
The next month, I married her. I am very happy now. It really true, His promise is true, with every difficulty there is relief.
